TASCA TASCA Portuguese Tapas Restaurant & Wine Bar was such a hidden gem. A small, real hole in the wall kind of place that was bustling with people for the dinner shift. They don't take reservations, strictly walk-ins, but once it fills up, they will start a wait list for tables. Since this gem is in the center of Sonoma, there are plenty of things to do while you wait around, we ended up walking into a book reading across the street. After about 20 minutes the restaurant called us with some open seats at the bar. Looking at the menu we were excited to see a lot of our tapas favorites, as well as a good amount new and unique dishes that we couldn't wait to try. First up was the octopus salad that was, SO DELICIOUS! Now that is how octopus is supposed to taste. I pretty much inhaled it before the rest of my party got to try it...oops. The Linguiça Caseira and the Kale Salad were equally delicious, both had so much flavor that I just kept on wanting more.
This place was a delight and I had such fun trying new and exotic dishes. Of course no meal is complete without some port wine, so we had to try some. My sister and I tried a flight of both Ruby and Tawny ports. I'm no stranger to port, but trying them one right after the other was a new delight, tasting the differences between each one. Chef Manuel did an amazing job showing traditional and innovative takes on Portuguese cuisine and left us feeling extremely satisfied.
